Amidst the horror of 9/11, 2001 we all know the incredible heroism of the first responders.
And then the undending, ongoing courage of people who lost family members and loved ones.
But we must also salute every single New Yorker then and now, for enduring.
It takes a great deal to endure in the midst of pain, shock and the overwhelming evidence of the evil that lives in some men’s hearts.
It takes enormous resilience to clear away all that has to be cleared away, to rebuild all that has to be rebuilt.
And it takes vision, commitment and a soul deep dedication to the finest in all of us, to create in the midst of everything that has been shattered, a monument to the human spirit, such as the memorial on the site of ground zero. Thank you New Yorkers each one of you is the finest and lives the finest within you.
