This year, host of New York’s ‘Late Show” David Letterman, announced that he would be leaving the show in 2015. He has held the crown as the longest running late night talk show host since 2103, and now Stephen Colbert will succeed him.
Of course as Letterman’s ‘Late Night’ winds down there is a series of ‘final’ appearances from favorite guests. Chief among those is Darlene Love who every year has sung her song “Christmas (Baby won’t You Please Come Home)”.
She is dear to the heart of music lovers and New Yorkers alike and it is a sad moment indeed, her last performance of this song. But as you can hear when you watch the video she gives it her all. At 73 her voice is still brilliant, her delivery spirited and perfect and her wonderful charisma and warmth as a singer shines through. Thank you Darlene, there is no better way for any of us to celebrate the holiday period than to hear you sing this wonderful song. We’re desolate you’re leaving and we thank you for the many years of beautiful singing you have given us all.
