Watch Mulder and Scully do a spontaneous Improv at New York Comic Con 2015 and weep. They’re baaaaaack, thank heavens.
Is there any TV show that has more cross generational fans than X-Files? There are now new conspiracy theorists galore who have never seen the show, joining with grandmas and grandpas who feel new hope as their favorite off the wall show returns in the near future.
Things are a little diffferent. Mulder and Scully are apparently now just friends and no longer lovers, but we live in hope. The camera work is the superior 21st Century variety and for raw beginners there’s a very clever ‘filling in the backstory’ part which means the first 9 seasons are over in a flash and it’s into the now.
One of the challenges this time around is that X-Files previously shone like a diamond in the midst of some very enjoyable but not amazing TV series. But with American Horror Story and the Walking Dead both out there loud and proud will X-Files still seem amazing?
But with Wikileaks, water on Mars and cyber hacking as a kindergarten subject X-Files can’t help but resonate with the newly paranoid. We will see. Meanwhile Mulder and Scully we bow down to your greatness and welcome you back with open arms.
Just by the by, what did we do before Comic Con and New York Comic Con in particular because it is the biggest and the best. How on earth did we know what do look forward to before comic Con panels. It’s a deep, deep mystery.
