Hard on the heels of a rant about New York waiters a NY Post columnist has now taken on New York bartenders, see here..
He’s upset at how bartenders with a refined mixology take on what constitutes a truly greast tasting drink turn their noses up at what the plebs want, like er…vodka.
It’s pretty clear from the online discussion about this that the bebate is split down the middle.
On the one side people who just want to rock up to a bar, have a quiet drink of their choosing and then varmoose.
On the other side is the refined mixologist who having carefully educated him or herself in the subtle tastes of various spirits, licqueurs and mixers is truly shocked by people who pay little attention to the taste of what they are drinking and just chug it down.
Um, can we have both just with a big sign outside some bars saying ‘Unless you take your drinking as seriously as we do don’t come in here.’ That should do it. COMMENT on whether you like what you like or you’re prepared to experiment, drinkswise.
