Tell me if this sounds familiar. Large company, bringing in lots of dollars does small thing to try and get more dollars and it disadvantages customers? Think Black cabs trying to stop yellow cabs using apps which make it easier for New Yorkers to hail a cab.
Only this time it’s the Yankees trying to stop Yankees fans buying cheap unwanted tickets through Stubhub so they can keep the price of their tickets higher.
Now let’s be up front. Businesses are in it to make money and make their owners or shareholders happy and that is just fine, it’s the basis on which our whole economic system works.
But despite talking customer service till it comes out of their ears businesses do not seem to get that if they thought of their customers as well as thinking of their bottom line, especailly in relatively little decisions they would not just look good, they would do good and cement all that customer loyalty they want.
Of course New Yorkers are creative in looking after themselves. Of course they will do what THEY can to look after their own interests. Right now Stubhub is trying to set up premises close to the Yankees stadium and the Yankees are trying to stop them in the courts. Yankees get real.
You have a wonderful base of adoring and currently long suffering fans. Cut them some slack and you’ll look good instead of like Grinch at Christmas
