One of the great pleasures in life in NYC has to be sleeping in on a Sunday then going down to your favourite café and joining your friends for a long, slow brunch that goes on for at least several hours.
Well there are plenty of places that provide really great brunches in NYC and why shouldn’t they? There’s some who say brunch is a New York invention and even if it wasn’t it should have been!
But holy, moly the City Government is actually proposing allowing restaurants who have sidewalk tables to open at 10.00am on Sundays rather than noon, how radical is that?
The noon rule goes back to the day when most people went to Church on Sunday morning and it was thought tables and chairs out on the sidewalk would make it difficult for them to get where they wanted to go.
Restaurant owners are delighted and even though there are a few grumbles from some present day church goers, everyone is hoping the City Govt. agrees to the proposal.
There are already a lot of excellent brunch opportunities but sitting outside in the sunshine while scoffing down great food and deliciously good coffee sounds terrific! LIKE having as many brunch choices as possible
