Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella has hit Broadway, adapted from an original TV Production that starred Julie Andrews in the title role.
The plot is the same but with a more more modern political setting, and more silliness and stupidity from the Stepmother and the two stepsisters than the usual vindictive meaness.
Even though the Prince (now called Topher) and a much spunkier Cinderella (now called Ella) have been spiced up with a more modern take, those 2 plus the Fairy Godmother still form the central trio that the whole show revolves around.
And it is vintage Broadway, incredible sets, costumes to die for, glorious songs, sweeping choreography and of course the wonderfully good looking, talented and ultimately victorious hero and heroine.
The Cinderella story is an enduring one in all cultures. It is fun and refreshing to see it again and in a guise that both adults and children can enjoy.
Let loose the kid in you and go relive your childhood via a marvellously Broadway take on it all. LIKE full on Broadway shows.
