NYPD officer Russel Timoshenko was just 23 when he was gunned down in the line of duty in 2007. He was just carrying out what appeared to be an ordinary car stop when he was shot. 10,000 grieving NYPD officers attended his funeral, see video. And as a further memorial to his ultimate sacrifice a member of the NYPD K-9 unit was named after him.
Canine members of the NYPD unit , mostly German Shepherds with a few blood hounds, receive rigorous training to enable them to go wherever police officers go, see two of them learning to be lowered from a great height.
They bond closely with their handlers and will eagerly carry out what is required of them no matter how difficult the task, see below.
And so what goes around comes around. During another car stop NYPD K-9 Timoshenko did what he was been trained to do, he snifffed out some weed in the car that had been pulled over. But he was still on the job and doing another go around of the car in question, he sniffed out 2 fully loaded automatics hidden behind one of the car’s door panels. NYPD k-9 Timoshenko 2 – Scumbags 0. So well done
