Sometimes the best laid plans fall apart. On Sunday some dedicated members of the Coast Guard set out in their helicopter monitor an oil spill off the New Jersey coast when suddenly smoke filled the cabin.
The crew very sensibly landed on the nearest suitable surface which happened to be the Richmond County Country Club, a Staten Island golf course. Repairs were made, apparently an alternator was at fault, and while it was all happening a NYPD helicopter joined in the fun also landing there to help.
Then, as you can see in the video, the Coast Guard helicopter flew off again, sounding a lot like a badly maintained lawn mower. Astonished golfers can be seen marvelling at their unexpected visitors. Cool tbhinking and swift action All in a days work for the Caost Guard, well handled guys and gals.
