The competition to sell, sell, sell retail goods is intense in New York right now and about to get more so.
Amazon has just entered into an agreement with the US Postal Service to deliver on Sundays as well as all other days of the week.
So now all the Christmas gifts you buy on Amazon will arrive a day earlier.
And offline retail is also lengthening shopping hours, matching what is on offer to people online.
Macy’s, Target and now Walmart have announced they will open for shopping from 8-9pm on Thanksgiving Day and they will certainly not be the only shops doing so.
Of course no one is forcing shoppers to shop on Thanksgiving Day but the lure of Black Friday specials, which presumably now become Black Thursday specials, will lure people to start their shopping earlier.
There are now no major shops in New York that aren’t also offering most of their specials online, so unless you love the in-store crush, the solution is to snap up those bargains up in between finishing off your pumpkin pie and watching the sports channel. LIKE choosing to shop in NYC as conveniently as possible.
