NYC invented ‘Good Riddance Day’ in 2007 and while 2014 is only its 8th incarnation, what a fabulous new tradition for the City. The idea is for you to write down all the events of 2014 and the people to whom you want to say ‘good riddance’ as you move forwards into 2015. Then you shred that piece of paper and let it all go.
The NYC City Times Square Alliance, helpfully provides a shredding truck in Times Square at 10.AM on December 28th but anyone can carry out the ritual and do their own shredding in whatever way works for them. So go ahead, lift those burdens off your shoulders, bid farewell to all your personal 2014 crapshoots and clear the decks for 2015.
