New York’s Holdiay markets become more numerous and fabulous as time goes on. Here’s where you should shop if you are into hand made crafted goods, quirky fashion and wonderful unique gifts. This is absolutely anti-Macy’s if there is such a thing. Expect the unexpected and be seduced by the the color, variety and quality of what is on offer. Most of thse markets are out in the open and people like to wander and linger as they explore everything available so rug up and wear waterproof, warm shoes. And bring a big bag so you’ve got soemthing to put all your purchases into. All of them also have great food vendors as well so you will be well fed and watered while you shop.
I’ve broken them down into boroughs and indicated whether they are short term or like most of them, on until Dec 21 or 24. All of them take a long time to navigate because each has somewhere between 50-150 vendors. It’s not realistic to take in more than one market a day , unless they are close by. For example Chelsea market has 3 Holiday Markets within it, so you can cover all 3 of them within a reasonable amount of time. You will definitely be very tempted as you wander along, so have a list and shop to that. Holiday markets with a specific fashion bias have been noted. Otherwise expect each one to have a splendid mix of great goodies things on offer, plus all that great food and drink to keep you going. I promise you NYC’s Holiday Markets are outstanding
