A very funny article in Vulture about the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park brought back shivery memories of
how amazing that film was with it’s first recreations of dinosaurs using modern digital technology.
The article is a listing in order of the scare factor of all dinosaurs in the film and yes the velociraptors win by a snap of the jaws from T Rex.
But it reminded me that in NYC we have the largest depository of dinosaur remains in the world. Yes, they’re in that amazing a wonderful NYC institution the American Museum of Natural History.
The video shows the room with the exhibition of Sauropods, the dinosaurs with the largest necks and longest tails. The exhibit you see is a life size recreation of that dinosaur, not just the bones which is what we usually see.
So large are these dinosaurs that much of the exhibit focusses on how they actually stayed alive given how much they had to eat to support their size and weight.
The AMNH has rooms and rooms of dinosaur bones and information. Among the many, many wonders of the AMNH it’s permanent dinosaur exhibiton is a thrilling expereince for kids of all ages.COMMENT on your favorite exhibition a the AMNH and LIKE dinosaurs, especailly the ones in NYC.
