Let’s hope word doesn’t get out but the last 2 cattle (one a cow, the other a bull) who decided to make a run for it from the slaughterhouse have done pretty well out of it. The latest fled from a Queens slaughterhouse, brushing aside various people trying to catch it as it went, see first video. If word spreads in the animal world we may all have to become vegetarians.
This bull was eventually brought low by tranquilizer darts shot into his backside by a NYPD officer with good aim, though the officer was helped by the bull being tied up at the time, see second video.
Taken first to a Brooklyn Animal Care Center, he might still have finished up as steak on a plate, but well known TV commentator Jon Stewart offered to drive him to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen New York. And in the second video you can also see Stewart feeding grass to the now the quiet and calm bull.
In January, a cow pulled the same escape tactics, also from a Queens slaughterhouse, and likewise finished up in the equivalent of cow heaven there to live out its day free of the threat of imminent death.
Are Queen’s slaughterhouses leaking like sieves, are the animals getting wise to the fate that awaits them. Whichever it’s not in anyone’s interests to have large, frightened animals running free in NYC streets.
