What do you get when you mix a well known New York courturier, a haunted house and a rogue and his loves? Well you get a fascinationg exhibition that’s what.
Courturier Camilla Huey developed an interest in Aaron Burr, once Vice-President and the unwritten history of his many loves.
It helped that she lives just opposite the Morris Jumel Mansion, oldest building in NYC where Burr famously married Eliza Jumel, a very wealthy widow.
Records relating to the various lovers Aaron had (his first and second wives and his housekeeper) and his much loved daughter are scarce and there is more around that is gossip and innuendo.
Huey who is among other things an absolute whizz at making corsets has created corsets which symbolize all of these women and what is known of their lives and they are to be exchibited in the Morris-Jumel Mansion in Harlem.
And the Mansion has a reasonably well documented ghost who walks its halls. The exhibition opens May 2 in the Mansion which is well worth a visit in its own right apart from the exhibition about the loves of Aaron Burr’s life.LIKE fabulousness on all levels. This exhibition has loads of fabulousness.
