Who could forget the driving hard rock, heavy metal rhythms of KISS, not to mention the face paint and the costumes.
They started up in New York in 1973 and now 2 of the original line-up and still standing members, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are writing all about it.
Out on September 10th, the book chronicles the setting up of the band and their first and great album ‘Alive’, in other words the period from 1972-1975
Of course given their origins there’s a lot in there about New York in the 70’s and it’s fascinating to find out the struggle to achieve the superstardom that eventually engulfed them.
The music, the music, the music, but also the face make-up, the blood spitting, fire breathing, smoking guitars, the whole 9 yards of full blown rock god madness that was KISS one of the greatest rock bands of all time
If you want to meet Stanley and Simmons in person, rock along to Staten Island’s Barnes and Noble On September 10th, but you will need to buy their book if you want to stand in line for the big meet and greet. Get there early, it will of course be mega crowded. LIKE New York’s rock gods.
