Last year a $1m was set up to train 120 teachers to teach computer science and coding to high school students.
New York has heavily supported the growth of the tech industry in the city but fostering the next group of young, home-grown computer scientists is equally important.
The current demand for people with coding skills can’t be met in New York, so when training starts in schools that is a pro-active response to ensure there will be a supply of people with coding skills in the future.
