New York is a city of great possibilitites and some harsh realitites. Fashion Photographer and model Mark Reay, who is a regular contributor to the magazine ‘Dazed’, can attest to the truth of those words. He regularly appears on runways at fashion shows or is to be seen backstage in his role as a fashion photographer. No one looking at this smartly dressed man in this super up market environment would think for a moment that he was homeless. But then he has become excellent at keeping up appearances.
Obviously a man of great grit, determination and inventiveness he is now a leading man in an acclaimed documentary about his life while homeless in NYC, called ‘Homme Less’. Despite never looking less than fabulous, he slept rough on an East village rooftop for nearly 6 years until voluntarily blowing his own cover in order to make the documentary. See the movie at NYC’s IFC center 323 sixth Avenue at West Third Street on August 7th and be amazed at the range of lifestyles that NYC supports, some of them harder an others.
