There are a number of ways to go about it, but a new possibility is starting to make a mark and that is GPS dating. That is using location based technology to pinpoint where other dateable people are.
There are downloadable Apps which are specifically targetted to people searching for romance and other broader services which help you locate someone in your area with similiar interests which don’t necessarily include dating.
It took online dating a while to kick into high gear and I suspect GPS dating and/or friend locating services are not at critical mass yet but are definitely growing and given the rate of technological change will probably quickly become much more popular.
There are many more services than the ones I’m going to list here but these are the ones getting the publicity right now. The biggie is OkCupid which now has it’s own offshoot which is Crazy Blind Date.
There’s also Tinder, Moonit and the Game. These are all related to meeting potential dates. Then there’s Meetmoi, Skout and Highlight which are designed to put you in touch with people geographically close who share interests.
How useful these services are depends on how many people have downloaded the app and how nimble you are at picking potential friends/dates from the data supplied. But hey, it’s good to meet new people and ways to do that are always very, very welcome.
