NYC is so different after a really, really heavy snow dump. The streets are empty of moving vehicles, silence reigns and for a little while New York city gives in to the reality of what is happening: it becomes this huge brooding city absorbing with dignity this momentous break in it’s ordinary overwhelming bustle, movement and noise.
But how seductive those empty, snowy streets are too. So an adventurous crew consisting of a Jeep driver, a snowbaorder wrangler standing up through the Jeep roof and two intrepid snowboarders went for it….see the video.
The thrill, snowboarding through Times Square while the few souls walking around in the cold cheer you on. Of course the Mayor had ordered all moving vehicles off the street except emergency ones, and so it was that the snowbaorders swept past a stationary police car which then gave chase.
But those NYPD officers probably would have done the same thing if they had had the choice, so they just cautioned the pranksters and let them go. Glad for the video guys, it really does look like the best fun ever.
