Ah toilets in New York; few and far between and never one close when you need it. And if you’re in a crowd of over a million in Times Square on New Year’s eve, well… wear an adult diaper, that’s about the only choice. Now there have been apps which pin point the public ones that are available near to where you happen to be, but the initial problem remains, there’s just not enough of them.
You’d think some smart person would plan ahead with new buildings or there would be special arrangements in places where huge crowds gather but no. The WTC area is sadly lacking in enough toilets and a nearby church makes it’s toilets avilable as a special service to those in need and there’s huge queues there every day. I mean they couldn’t plan enough toilets for the WTC? Crazy.
But now a possible answer, there’s a new app called Airpnp, yes no prizes for working how they arrived at that name. It’s just started enrolling people in New York to rent out their toilets. And interestingly some businesses are into it as well as some private providers. Naturally there’s a cost, but think what a boon it is going to be when it’s fully up and running. Businesses in the WTC or along parade routes could do a roaring trade. Everyone around places where big events are held can offer a toilet and not just gain a grateful tourist or caught short native New Yorker but a potential customer too. Lots of possibilities and at last enough toilets in NYC.
