One of the delights of NYC is the number of renowned eateries that offer ethnic food which over time has become essentially New York in the way it’s done.
One of those places is Joe’s Pizza. Located at 7 Carmine Street Greenwich Village it is 37 years old and now opening it’s first branch close to Union Square, where they’re hoping to pick up alot of student trade.
Same decor, same slices, same family, the Pozzuolis, originally from Naples Italy who have become famous selling great pie cheaply.
They have picked up a lot of honors along the way, ‘Best of New York’ award from New York Magazine, top 10 pizza listings in all the tourist guides and GQ putting them in their list of the ‘Best 25 Pizzas on Earth’.
I picked this video because despite the annoyingly long intro, Joey Jamms deos a great job of analyzing what makes Joe’s Pizza’s great.
And they might have had their inspiration in Naples but Joe’s Pizzas are now New York Pizzas, no doubt about that.COMMENT on who has the best pizza in NYC and LIKE great pizzas.
