With Season 5 of GOT’s coming at some yet unannounced time in 2015, there is plenty you can do in NYC to keep yourself immersed in the atmosphere and activities of your favorite show.
Start by checking out the Arms and Armor display at the Metrolpitan Museum of Arts. It’s all there, the knights in shining armor, the armor plating the horses wore as well and every deadly medieval weapon you can think of.
Then go and learn how to heave a sword around at Sword Class NYC . You never know when you might be asked to be a GOT’s extra or you step into a time machine and find yourself wandering around in Westeros.
Why not get drunk on the medieval drink of choice… mead. Made by fermenting honey, water and yeast you may find the sweetness of it a little strange after the sharper taste of modern drinks. But it is tasty and it packs a wallop. Try the Gramercy Tavern at 42 E 20th St btw Broadway and Park St South. They can offer you some very nice mead to try.
You can kit yourself out in medieval or renaisssance clothing from Tudor Shoppe, a NYC based website and then when September 2015 comes around you can go along to the Mediteval Festival held in Fort Tyron Park near The Cloisters, the only authentic medieval premises in the City brought brick by brick from Europe. Check the video for all the enjoyably medieval things that happen at the Festival.
