This video will make you cry and feel so proud to be a New Yorker. It’s a love letter to New Yorker by Martin Scorsese.
Put together just after 9/11, it is a tribute by Scorsese played at a special Benefit concert just after that terrible event.
Scorsese is a native New Yorker and his strong pre-occupation with films about New York, like his most recent one “Wolf of Wall Streeet” is very easy to understand in the context of this video.
He speaks so lovingly about his upbringing in Little Italy.
And so profoundly about New York’s everchanging influx of new immigrants.
This sweet video helps all of us locate ourselves in the ongoing history of New York and to feel so proud of it’s pre-eminent role in the broader history of America.
