Watch this video and ask yourself what Times Warner are doing here. For my part I’m presuming they want people to log onto the special website they’ve set up and complain about their service and then they’ll take that data and fix up what’s wrong.
Cute idea if I’m right and praiseworthy but I realize I’m wary when it comes to some businesses and me as a customer. That’s not so when it comes to business people I know personally, like small business people
However I spend a lot of time searching for bargains to write about on this site and for myself and I’m in love with the new apps around which allow me to follow the pricing strategies of big retailers so I get a good price when I want to buy.
I know those apps have made a big difference to me because some businesses have been manipulating prices to bring in the highest return forever and unless I look after my interests I’ll be paying more than I need to.
The internet has given customers so much more power than previously and I like that. I no longer have to pay higher prices because my local retailer only has a small inventory. Now I can buy from anywhere that offers what I want at the price I want.
So I’m wary when some businesses start talking about customer service. I want it to be real customer service where it’s a partnership between what I need at the best price and what they provide and not just words being used because it sounds good.
