Let’s face it, some New York retailers and businesses are going to behave like profiteering scumbags unless they are called on their gender pricing.
So what the heck is gender pricing? It’s charging women anything from 10% – 75% more for goods than the same goods sold to men. If anyone can find a pricing difference that breaks the other way then tell us.
A recent study Stores Charge More For Women’s Stuff showed this practice is very widespread in New York.
A standout example was a red scooter cost $24.99 at Target and a pink one for girls cost $49.99. Pathetic, stop the discrimination Target. But they are far from the only store doing it.
As you can see in the video, gender pricing is particularly widespread in personal care products and the practice of this type of pricing has been banned in California. Get with the program NYC and do the same here.
Until a ban is in place we should all complain when we discover gender pricing in stores. A good Social Media campaign would wipe it out for sure.
