Safe to say New Yorkers loved it and thousands turned out. It was historic, the first women’s team to get a ticker tape parade and the first US soccer team to win a World Championship, the country staking it’s claim for a place in a huge, world wide sport. The pride in the team was there in every smiling face.
But there was a difference, see the video. There was so much pride from young and old, male and female but especially among young female soccer players to want to be the champions of the future. These champion women soccer players are their idols, the ones they look up to, if they can do it we can too they chanted.
Apparently not as much corporate sponsorship was made available as could have been but whatever the City put in to make it happen was well rewarded. In the end it had everything, bands, marching NYP officers, loads of dignitaries and the team floating above it all, drowned in confetti and getting the acclaim they deserve for their big effort.
