It’s been going on for 20 years, the push in New York to legalize the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.
It got through the State Legistature helped by ads like the one in the video attached to this post.
And then at the 11th hour, when it all looked straightforward, Governor Cuomo wouldn’t agree to all provisions of the Compassionate Care Act as it is called.
He said it could prove to be a ‘gateway’ drug, leading young people especially into using harder drugs if it’s use was allowed in smokeable form.
So in order to get the bill through it has now been agreed that it can only be prescribed by a doctor and in oil or vapor based forms for a limited number of conditions.
It now needs to go back to the State Legislature where it seems sure to pass making New York State the 23rd state to legalize the use of medical marijuana.
