Rotten Tomatoes has been a great website for movies, giving a ‘Fresh’ tomatoes rating to goodies and a ‘Rotten’ tomatoes rating to the baddies. Now watch out TV shows those ratings are coming right at you now.
Rotten tomatoes site will review seasons of a show rather than individual episodes but surely will adjust ratings if things go haywire during a season. They will not be rating reality shows presumably because the audience reaction to these shows is usually spot on in determining whether they survive or not.
For very popular shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad they will go back to the beginning to do reviews.
It will be interesting. We are usually more emotionally welded to our TV shows than to movies because we build up a commitment to characters over a period of time, sometimes years, witness the incredible real grief after the Tony Soprano actor, James Gandolfini, died.
And many sites and magazines in New York run weekly analysis of the most popular TV shows allowing fans to relive all the highlights of each episode. So where will Rotten tomatoes fit into that mix?
Perhaps it will be a case of too much analysis is never enough and we will all just lap it up. It is a great site after all. See the video of snippets from the Rotten Tomatoes TV show with their ratings shown for each movie cited. It’s fun video, so enjoy. LIKE good reviews of TV shows watched by New Yorkers.
