At last a traffic initiative to make New York safer is having solid results.
New York’s ‘Vision Zero’ plan to cut pedestrian deaths has been going since early in the year.
And so far the number of pedestrians killed by cars is down a third from the same time last year.
But the number of jaywalking tickets is way up.
And the number of tickets given to drivers who fail to give way has gone up 115%.
Speeding tickets are up 15% and driving while unlicensed is up 24%. Yes, yes, yes. Congrats New York City Concil and the NYPD. You are helping to make New Yorkers safer when they are out walking on the streets, that’s a big achievement and we thank you.
