All New Yorkers are wonderful from the loftiest celebrity and community leader to the lowliest street person sleeping rough while scrounges soda cans to make a few bucks.
And every so often there’s a special example of New Yorkers helping New Yorkers which truly demonstrates just how wonderful New Yorkers are.
In researching a story about how families who were left homeless after hurricane Sandy I found out about Habitat for Humanity.

It turned out they were working hard to help dispossessed Staten Islanders rebuild their homes, not doing it for them, helping them do it for themselves which is always the best way.
This is an organization that uses volunteers and donations from well wishers to work towards providing everyone who lives in NYC with a clean, decent home.
The fact that this organization exists, that it is supported by a very broad range of New Yorkers is proof positive that New Yorkers are wonderful, caring people, always.
