Mets fans, the most resilient sports fans in NYC because they have had to be, are currenlty filled with hope and reverance as their team closes on the World Series. New Yorkers generally are filled with the joy of discovery as the Mets, the Mets, who would believe it, deliver game after game that leave everyone gasping in admiration.
No one has seen a starting rotation like this in years: Harvey, De Grom, Syndergaard and Matz, all super fast pitchers, delivering victory game after game and showing such grit and guts.
Then of course there’s Daniel Murphy homering again and again with the Mets fans delirious with joy.
Yoenis Cespedes, who earlier in the season seemed to lift the Mets out of despair that yet again greatness was beyond their grasp, has remained a steady presence bringing the grandeur of his committment each time he plays.
And there is Jeurys Familia, who some think is now the best closer in the game. And Curtis Granderson who pulls great catches out of the air over and over.
This team shows committment, cohesion and incredible talent every time they play. The support they give each other is clear to see and that is a wonderful thing.
This team now seems unstoppable and every New Yorkers wants them to win the World Series. But whether you do or you don’t mets, we just want you to know we are in awe of your superhuman efforts and it’s a privelege to watch you play. You astound us.
