By the end of 2014 New York’s mighty FDNY will have answered 1.6m emergency calls the most ever.
A few of the causes are the increase in gas emergencies, up since the East Harlem building explosion earlier in the year and the increase in the number of serious fire and medical emergencies. But the FDNY has also had its lowest number of fire deaths since records started being collected in 1916. Good going FDNY, you are doing a great job of keeping New Yorkers safe.
The video shows brand new Engine 73 on it’s first call out, from it’s station in the Bronx. Love the curious kid, peering in the door being careful to not get in the way, but obviously wide-eyed with wonder at this great machine as it vroom vrooms as it gets ready to hit the road.
