Marvel’s Ant Man has had his NYC opening so now we can all wait impatiently for the weekend release of this latest incarnation of a Marvel hero, Ant Man. You will be relieved to know that while a lot hangs on our hero (played very, very well by Paul Rudd) protecting his special suit which lets him to shrink and gain magic superhero powers, life as we know it on earth and the entire universe does not hang on the outcome.
It’s a fun take on superheroes and while we love our Thor and Wolverine it’s nice to be able to laugh so much during a superhero film. Which is just as well because there’s seemed to be some kind of rule in the superhero universe that life as we know it is a second away from extinction . Which is exciting but boy it gets exhausting. It also gives another dimension of superhero powers to yearn after.
Of course all comic universes were created here in NYC. So it follows an essential element of all superhero films and TV offerings hinges on life in NYC and what magical powers are needed to survive the rigors of living in Gotham. A recent poll suggests New Yorkers would like to be able to fly and be invisible, but being small enough to crawl in anywhere must also be attractive to everyone from advertising execs to fashionistas to startups competing in a crowded market. Yes Ant Man we’d like the suit thank you.
