The Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) is a marvellous place for all lovers of fashion.
They hold 50,000 dresses and accessories dating from the 18th Century and constantly have Exhibitions which showcase various aspects of their collection.
Currently they have the RetroSpective Exhibition on until November 16th.
In this exhibition they are highlighting the relationship between historical forms of dress and examples of current or recent fashion that have demonstrated that influence.
Think empire line, flapper silhouettes, Victorian bustles and other historical designs then go along and see how designers who created clothes showing those influences.
The exhibition shows the actual historical clothing AND the modern interpretations.
All the clothing is beautiful, stunning, colourful and makes us all wish we could rip it off the mannequins and put it on ourselves. LIKE seeing beautiful clothing of any era.
