New York has done it again, gone where others don’t dare to go and come up trumps.
Spurred on by Glen Whitney who raised $22m to realize his dream, Momath, the Museum of Mathematics has now opened in Manhattan at 11 East 26th Street, see Museum of Mathematics.
This is an exuberant, colourful, small Museum with lots of hands on experiences available to help kids of all ages grasp the relationship between maths and everyday life.
The Museum, which is still finding its feet in terms of what its target audience (4th – 8th graders) want, is currently offering not just 30+ exhibits but a range of other experiences.
Such as Summer Camp, Cryptography workshops and Math Tournaments and is running a conference on Recreational Mathematics soon.
Open every day from 10.am to 5.pm 7 days a week expect you and your kids to be amazed, provoked and mystified and to have a very different Museum experience. LIKE New Yorkers with gumption and creativity.
