On May 5th the TD Five Boro Bike Tour will once again wend it’s way through the five boroughs of BYC, starting at Battery Park and finishing on Staten Island.
Now 36 years old, the Bike Tour has over 30,000 participants and apart from all the fun is also a major charity event, raising funds for charitites such as Doctors without Borders.
So many people want to participate, there is ballot in February to decide who rides and who doesn’t. All spots are filled in 24 hrs. But you can still go here 5 Boro Bike Ride to sign up as a rider with charity partners in the race.
Given what has just happened with the Boston marathon there is now a renewed emphasis on security.
Officials say all appropriate measures have been taken, including on the Staten Island Ferry which brings bike riders back to the Tour’s starting point at Battery Park.
