On Tues, jan 21, Apple’s clear glass cube entrance to it’s Fifth Ave Flagship Store was broken/damaged.
There was a lot of snow, the snowblowers were out and…..it backed into the cube.
The pane of glass was reported as shattered but don’t think of jagged bits of glass going flying.
No it was like what happens when a rock hits a windscreen, instant change in the clarity of the glass from clear to totally crazed.
Nothing fell down, the store remains open and if you’re near it, go and have a look.
But we now know that 15 panes make up the glass cube at the front of the Fifth Ave store, that each pane cost $450,000 to replace and that means the skin of that cube on it’s own cost nearly $7.
Hold the snowplowers guys, that’s real expensive glass you’re casually backing into.
