Pattycake, the Bronx Zoo gorilla has died at 40 yrs old, having had 10 gorillas and been the focus of much love and attention from New Yorkers all, NYTimes
Born in captivity, she was raised by her parents both rare events when she was born in 1972. The adventures of her babyhood and her growth into adulthood was followed by a rapt audience of Pattycake lovers.
She spent time at both Central Park Zoo where she was born and the Bronx zoo where she became a permanent resident in 1983.
The Bronx Zoo is famed for it’s Congo Gorilla Forest, a 6.5 acre exhibit which over 400 animals from 55 species call home.
This Gorilla Forest is a wonderful place to visit and children and adults can explore in many ways and most importantly learn about the conservation outreach of the Bronx Zoo and designate which animals they would like to benefit from the money charged for their entry to the Zoo.COMMENT on the wrok of the Bronx Zoo and LIKE saving animals from extinction.
