Even though they say there is nothing new under the sun who knew there was so many stray single slices of pizza lying around in New York subways? Let alone how many rats pit themselves against the difficulties of manipulating what are to them, huge pizza slices, in the unfriendly subway depths.
It’s pretty clear now that natural selection has bred into NYC rats the capacity to make fearsome calculations about ‘when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em’. New York’s subway rats obviously make sophisticated cost/benefit analysis about the relationship between effort and reward.
In the original Pizza rat video, see below we were all impressed with how dogged pizza rat was until s/he decided it just wasn’t worth all the effort. Pizza rat was a loner and battling against the forces of stair design and gravity.
In this new pizza fight between two rats, one of them just wants to eat, dammit! And pirate rat just wants to steal the goodies. Notice that given the pizza would probably feed about 20 rats there is not the slightest sign of co-operation. No sirree, it’s all a question of who’ll cave first.
So now we know what this is all about there’s no reason not to set up an arena with some urban arhictectural features, throw in a few slices of pizza along with half a dozen rats and allow betting on how long any given rat will stay the course in capturing the pizza. Waht do you think, a brand new sports organizqation the NPRL, the National Pizza Rat League?
