If you have been following the local news sources or you have friends who live in the South Street Southport area you know that many of the merchants affected by Hurricane Sandy are still struggling and have not been able to re-open their businesses yet.
So on April 18, between 5-9pm there’s going to be a Street Festival with live bands, beer, wine, food trucks and fun to raise money for them.
But this post is about the School that is organising it, the Spruce Street School.
This school has a mission, to help all it’s pupils directly experience themselves as part of a community and to in turn recognize their obligation to that community.
This street festival is their “Spirit Festival” an honoring of what these merchants have done for the school in the past and a desire to help them in turn in their time of need.
So let’s help them by turning up and having fun. The video clip about Spruce Street’s Dream Lunches is not all that explanatory about what a Dream Lunch is but it’s sure a lift to see such beautiful kids be themselves. So enjoy and LIKE what these great kids are doing.
