Hot kicks are a huge business and nowhere more so than in New York. See the video from the last Sneaker con held in NYC, July 2013 to get an idea of the depth and range of sneakers on offer at each of these events.
This one will be held at Basketball City, Pier 36, 299 south St, from 12pm-7pm on Nov 23 and all of New York’s sneakerheads will be there in force.
They will be trading, buying, selling and expect everyone from cheeky little 8 yr old entrepreneurs who have been bank rolled by their parents to hardened sneaker aficionados who know it all.
What will everyone be after? The range is of course huge but kicks from small runs that have been specially designed or designs from the 90’s will top the wish lists of passionate sneakerheads.
Kicks aren’t of course only something you wear, they are now also highly collectible art/fashion collectibles and some people make their living from being highly knowledgeable about what’s in, what’s hot and what’s rare.
If you want to buy, prepare by going onto a few of the online sites that appraise and value sneakers so you’re not going to just slip into Sneaker con and get ripped off. LIKE the passion of New York sneakerheads.
