It’s creepy watching this video. You know there’s something off about the guy, his body language is weird but when he makes his move it’s shockingly smooth and successful. And bang someone else has their smart phone stolen, making the victim one of an increasing number of New Yorkers losing electronic goods, such as phones, tablets or computers to subway thieves.
Remember back a few years and Apple execs were saying that a new setting on their phones which would show you where your phone was if it was stolen and this help would stamp out thefts. There’s probably nothing wrong with this setting but it hasn’t achieved a drop in thefts of smart phones, especially on the subway. Quite the opposite, thefts of phones on the subway are on a steady upward trajectory.
Announcing this rise in phone thefts, officials said that the rest of the crimes committed on the subway system were people beating up on each other. We pleased to hear about what to look out for but how about announcing how the MTA is going to stop it all, the phone thefts and the beating up! In the meantime New Yorkers, keep a sharp eye out for scumbags.
