Who knew Dog Couture was big? And I missed New Yorks 2013 Pet Fashion week I was so busy keeping track of NY’s adult Fashion Week which was on at the same time.
But here’s the make-up video post on what Dog Couture is all about. The video itself is from 2008 but it so perfectly embodies what makes Dog Couture appealing that I’ve used it.
As you might have guessed during Fashion week there are parades for gloriously dressed models plus dogs in matching outfits for those going for the overall fashion look with their pets.
But it’s pretty clear those most into Dog Couture make the dogs the focus, decking them out in a wonderful array of fluff, glitter and wit. e.g. Note the bulldog in the video.
It’s clear not all dogs get an equal go at looking beautiful in fashionable garb. There is a notable absense of Rotweillers, Austrailian Shepherds and St Bernards. It would be easy to imagine these breed taking snarling exception to tulle and diamentes.
Instead cihauhuas and Yorkies predominate and other toy breeds. And they look adorable if not always very happy. LIKE the whimsy of dogs in dresses.
