It’s time for us all to bow before the might of Star Wars. Dec 17th is the opening night for the new chapter in the saga… Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It will open then in all AMC theaters near you but forget about going until Dec 18th. That’s because the all the tickets sold out and the demand was so heavy the site crashed.
However there’s a way for fans eager to indulge themselves in all things Star Wars before they get to see the latest episode. You can go to Discovery Times Square where the Star Wars and the Power of Costume Exhbition is being held. It’s quite something to immerse yourself in these magnificent costumes which span the complete Star Wars films.
The costumes are rich, creative and overwhelming in their detail. And yes, they are the real costumes, the ones actors wore as the the films were made. It’s all pretty amazing being so close to what you normally only see on the screen. And anticiapting that no one is going to tire of Star Wars anytime soon, the Exhibtion is on until early September 2016.
It is in a word – marvellous, because these are not just costumes. No one familiar with the films can help but re-imagine them in action as they were worn by the characters in the film.
There’s stacks of detailed information about them all from the original concepts and changes they went through as the Directors visions for the movies developed.
The exhibition even has a room for the new film, ‘the Force Awakens’ and a nifty mirror which allows you to imagine a light saber in your hand. Fabulous stuff, a must for all Star Wars devotees.
