The thing about NYC city government is they really try to look after New Yorkers. When it is something to do with health like banning smoking indoors and trying to ban big soda drinks, there’s a lot of narkiness from some quarters and mutters about the horrible ‘nanny state’. But the exact same impulse, to do the best possible for all New Yorkers, results in a huge heap of great stuff. For example Mulchfest. It hasn’t been going for very long but it’s such a boon.
The whole idea is to give New Yorkers an easy way out of disposing of their dried out and withering Christmas trees now that Christmas is over and all the tinsel has been taken down. If you go to
Mulchfest Details you can get all the details about drop off points. On Sat Jan 10 to Sun Jan 11 between 10am and 2pm you can drop off those pesky trees and the city will mulch them up. Then you can either donate the mulch to the city for use in NYC’s parks or you can grab a bag of mulch and use it yourself. A total win, win.
