Sure the Yankees are a great team but when the chips are down are they tough minded, realistic and pragamatic enough to survive under pressure?
Yes they are and the evidence is in their doggedness when all their best laid plans fall apart.
Who could have foretold that Jeter, Rodrigues, Granderson and Teixeira would all be lost to the batting lineup so early in the Season.
No sweat, the Yankees bring in Wells, Hafner, Youkilis, Overbay, Boesch and Francisco and the oldies pull it off, hitting home runs and generally staving off disaster.
However while pitchers Pettitte and Sabathia have been pulling their weight, things have not gone so well with the pitching rotation. And now Pettitte’s back has seized up. But wait, Phil Hughes has come back in and the pitching coaches think they can fine tune the performance of the rotation over the next few weeks. Yes please.
With the news that Jeter, Teixeira and Granderson are all improving could things be getting back on a more even keel? Count on the Yankees hanging tough and going along reasonably and perhaps even thriving mightily. The Season is young. COMMENT on what you think will happen with the Yankees over the next few months. LIKE the yankees.
