Big Data is giving us a lot of info we didn’t have before. For instance you can mine the record of tweets both from specific places in NYC and also look at specific Keywords to judge the emotional temperature of those tweets.
And as a result you can tell how many people are happy in a specific place and how many are sad.
It turns out the happeist place in NYC is Times Square. Of course it could be because of lot of those tweeters are visitors and on holidays, but hey, they’re happy visitors.
Looking further afield the Upper West Side is happier than the Upper East Side. And while Manhattanites south of Central park are happy, there’s people not so happy in East Village, Chelsea and the area around City Hall.
There is a lot of sadness around the United Nations and Ground Zero and more sadness in the Outer Boroughs than Manhattan. Thanks to the The NYPost for this information.
The video is joyous and you’ll hum and tap along making you in just the right mood to send a happy tweet.
