Good news about great young company that has singlehandedly made life in New York much more interesting for both native New Yorkers and New York visitors.
I’m talking about Side Tour New York which under the guidance of CEO Vipin Goyal provides ‘experiences’ for New Yorkers. They offer mixology classes, sailing on the Hudson, how to make macarons and improving your Blackjack among 90+ such experiences.
Now Groupon has recognized a good thing and bought them so they can roll the model out right across the US. Congrats Vipin.
Another recent start-up Capital New York has been carving a space online in the political/media/culture /sports space and has been snapped up by Washington political commentary heavies Politico.
Politico wants to turn the site into a New York version of their Washington site and charge subscriptions for special background information on media and politics in New York.
The take-out from these sales is that everything New York is so significant that reasonable start-ups are going to be very saleable as businesses try to gain traction in the crowded New York market.
LIKE how ‘hot’ New York is.
