Sure they’re going to be efficient and probably they can actually store even more information than a human concierge, after all robots can now beat grand masters at chess and have been able to build cars better than people for years.
Clearly robot concierges are going to take all the fun out of staying in hotels and give a huge boost to Airbnb. Look, the romance of a Concierge is not that they have lots of information and can book you theater tickets, it’s having a person make you important, the center of their universe for that little while.
It is only too obvious that Robot concierges are clicking through their data banks to get information. What would you rather have, a robot who tells you in it’s tinny voice that ‘Hamilton’ is sold out or a human Concierge tapping the side of her nose and telling you to go and see the man in an alley at the back of the hotel and he might have a ticket to spare. Even if you still don’t get one it’s fun, its’ New York and anything is possible.
Hilton Hotels are trialing them and the chain has 3 big hotels in NYC, so they are bound to come here. Don’t forget to give this chain frank and fearless feedback about how much you like them. Hotel execs ae not doing this for you, they will keep charging the same room rate, but their expenses will decrease. If youw ant a human concierge, ask for one.
